Meet the New Phrozen Sonic Mega 8K S

By Xaveria Livienna | Aug 10, 2023

But apart from its large size and 8K screen, what’s so special about the Sonic Mega 8K S?

Introducing the Sonic Mega 8K S

Launched on August 9, 2023, the Sonic Mega 8K S is the second printer on Phrozen’s Mega Series. After first launching the Sonic Mega 8K as the one and only 8K printer, we’re now expanding our product line to cater more to your various needs.

If the Sonic Mini 8K S was created to be the affordable printer for the mass, the Sonic Mega 8K S was created as a productivity beast to help you boost production and efficiency while keeping it affordable.

Brand New High-Speed System

High-speed system for Sonic Mega 8K S

The Sonic Mega 8K S debuted Phrozen’s new high-speed system and mainboard to make 3D printing in large-sized printers faster than ever. It provides two different speed settings that are adjustable according to your needs:

  • Fast Printing Mode
With fast printing mode, you can boost your production to print 600 layers/hour. During our test, we managed to produce 72 of 1/32 scale army models in just two hours with the fast-printing mode and TR300 resin.
  • Normal Printing Mode
Even when printing with the normal mode, you can still comfortably print up to 400 layers/hour. Still super fast, even for the normal mode.
Lift-Up Lid Opening

If you don’t have much room in your workshop or studio, and the Sonic Mega 8K looks like it’s going to take up much space with its double-door design, the Sonic Mega 8K S might just be perfect for you.

The Sonic Mega 8K S rocks the lift-up lid style with the fluorescent green cover previously seen on the Sonic Mini 8K S. It still offers easy access to your prints, but now it looks slimmer and easier to handle with one hand. In addition, that pop of color will easily brighten up any room it is in.

Built-In Hanger Drip

Sonic Mega 8K S built in drip hanger

Having a creative 3D makers community, we understand that a hanger drip will help you save the resin dripping on your models after printing and makes cleaning the top part of your build plate more convenient.

A DIY 3D printing hook is helpful for smaller printers like the Mighty or Mini, but when it comes to a mega printer, the building plate itself, along with lots of models attached, it can get very heavy. In this case, a DIY 3D printed hook or hanger might not be the safest as the model could break accidentally. Therefore, we add a built-in all-metal build-plate hook on the Sonic Mega 8K S to make it convenient and ensure your safety.

Pump & Fill Compatible

Pump & Fill for Sonic Mega 8K S
To make the Sonic Mega 8K S an even more powerful printer suitable for 3D printing businesses, the Sonic Mega 8K system is also integrable with the new Phrozen Pump & Fill—an automated resin feeder, so you can adjust the settings directly from the printer touch panel.

The Pump & Fill sensor will detect when your vat is running low on resin and add more according to its needs. In addition, it also boasts the resin auto-pump function to suck the remaining resin in your vat once your finish printing to avoid resin separation, and so you’ll always have a fresh vat each time you start printing.

The Reliable Productivity Beast

Produce a lot per batch with Sonic Mega 8K S

If you’re looking to increase your production and print more in a short amount of time, then definitely consider getting the Sonic Mega 8K S. Equipped with dual linear rails and ACF film, printing large models is ultra-stable with higher success rates. In addition, when combined with fast-curing resin with low viscosity like the TR300, you can speed up your printing even further, maximizing the Sonic Mega 8K S speed and production to its maximum potential.

You, reading this blog post, probably means that you’re already engaged in 3D printing in one way or another, or at the least, curious about it. Chances are that you’re also expecting more innovation from us such as bigger build volume, tool-changing capabilities, extra axis, IDEX, new sensors. The announcement of the P1P might not have been the move you expected from us, or wished for at the moment. But if you just take a step back, and try to see the bigger picture, you’ll hopefully see what we see: the advantages and necessity of the P1P, current, and future ones. And yes, we are working on the next-generation printer as you are reading this. If we succeed together in expanding the 3D printing audience, this can only bring a lot more innovation, not just from us, but from every other player in the market. Thank you for riding along with us on this journey.
